South 23rd | Decor Boutique

About the Client

Susan is kind, sweetly Southern, and stinking innovative! She started South 23rd, a boutique home decor brand that’s transforming ordinary outdoor spaces into extraordinary experiences. Her flagship product is the Porch Pop, a patent-pending planter cover that provides a chic alternative to mundane plastic pots. Tailored for women who love unique and designer home decor, Susan’s creations are inspired by the likes of Ballard Designs and Frontgate with timeless prints and a variety of sizes.

About the Project

THE PROBLEM

When Susan reached out, she already had a website live and it was getting attention, but the sales just weren’t coming in. But at craft fairs, Porch Pops were selling like hotcakes. It was clear the product resonated with people face-to-face, but something was missing online. The website not only needed to capture attention and ignite excitement but also educate potential customers about this innovative product and how it could transform their everyday spaces.

MY APPROACH

While Susan was out at craft fairs, connecting with her audience and gathering invaluable insights, I was busy shaping those insights into compelling website copy. We focused on refining the tone and voice to align perfectly with her target audience before even typing a single word for the site. This groundwork was crucial to ensure the website spoke directly to its visitors, making them feel understood and inspired.

My focus was to create copy that not only articulated the product’s benefits but also connected emotionally with the target audience. That focus led to some of the most fun I’ve had while writing copy.

On the home page, I wrote “For a warmer welcome, meet the Porch Pop” to introduce the product and grab readers attention. And I do loooove an alliteration, so on the hero section of the about page, the copy reads, “Elevated Style for Every Home.”

But one of my favorite additions was the FAQ section on the contact page. With a cheeky header, “We Might Be Able To Save You An Email…”, it quickly addressed common questions, giving customers the confidence that Susan and her brand genuinely understand their needs.

With the copy wrapped up, it was time to hand Susan’s site over to the team at Karima Creative to bring it all to life. They took the friendly, educational, and fun copy I wrote and designed a gorgeous, focused, and strategic website for Susan. It even has me raising my hands, ready to buy Porch Pops!

RESULTS

Through playful, engaging copy, we not only connected with the audience but also helped them see the potential in their everyday spaces. And that is how we turned the smart idea of the Porch Pop into a blooming success.
